Habit, vegetative morphology.— Evergreen. Current year's branchlets glabrous. Branchlets older than one year smooth or furrowed, brownish, glabrous. Lenticels on current year's branchlets absent or hardly visible. Internodes 0.2–0.7 cm. Stipules caducous, linear-triangular, 0.4–0.5 mm. Petiole glabrous, smooth surface, 4–6 mm. Lamina elliptic, lanceolate (1:3), 4–8 X, 0.4–0.8 cm, coriaceous, glabrous abaxially. Base attenuate or cuneate. Apex acute, mucronate. Apex rounded. Margin revolute, dentate, teeth inconspicuous. Teeth 3–7 ca., over the entire length of the margin. Midbrid adaxially flat, glabrous. Midbrid abaxially raised, glabrous. Secondary veins abaxially evident, 6–10 pairs. Tertiary veins abaxially obscure. Ponctuation abaxiallly absent.

Inflorescences.— Thyrsoid, homocladic.

Male flowers.— Thyrses axes solitary and axillary. Thyrses axes 1–2.4 cm. Cymes of order 1–2. Peduncles pubescent. Peduncles of order 1 2–4 mm. Pherophylls of order 1 at 6–7 tenth from the base. Peduncles of order 2 0.5–1.5 mm. Pherophylls of order 2 at 0–1 tenth from the base. Bracts linear-triangular, pubescent, 0.5–1 mm, margin entire. Pherophylls of order 1 opposite, linear-triangular, pubescent, 0.8–1.2 mm, margin entire. Male flowers 4–5 -merous, white. Calyx pubescent, 1.5–2 mm in diam., margin entire. Corolla 2–2.5 mm, petals connate on, petals 20–30 % of their length. Apex margin entire. Stamens at the anthesis longer than corolla. Rudimentary ovary subglobulous or flattened, glabrous.

Female flowers.— Thyrses axes solitary and axillary. Thyrses axes 1–1.5 cm. Cymes of order 1. Peduncles pubescent. Peduncles of order 1 3–4 mm. Pherophylls of order 1 at 0–1 tenth of the base or 4–6 tenth of the base. Bracts linear-triangulate, glabrous, 0.7–1 mm, margin entire. Pherophylls of order 1 opposite, linear-triangulate, glabrous, 0.3–0.5 mm, margin entire. Female flowers 4–5 -merous. Calyx glabrous, margin entire, 2.5–3 mm in diam. Corolla 1.5–2 mm. Apex margin entire (possibly beaded). Ovary spherical, glabrous, stigma mamillate, stigma glabrous.

Fruits.— Fruit spherical, 3–4 mm in diam., 3–4 mm.

Distribution, ecology.— South America, Brazil (Minas Gerais), in ripa rivulorum.

Flowering.— February.
