Habit, vegetative morphology.— Shrub, evergreen, 1.5–3 m tall. Current year's branchlets pubescent. Branchlets older than one year reddish, pubescent, dense short trichomes. Petiole pubescent, 5.5–9 mm. Lamina elliptic to obovate, oblong (1:2), 3.2–5.3 X, 1.8–2.6 cm, papyraceous to coriaceous, pubescent abaxially (sur la face inférieure du limbe). Base cuneate to acute. Apex rounded to obtuse (rarement aigu). Apex rounded or retuse (rarement). Margin revolute, entire. Midbrid adaxially impressed, glabrous. Midbrid abaxially raised, pubescent. Ponctuation abaxiallly present.

Inflorescences.— Solitary dichasium.

Female flowers.— Cymes of order 1. Peduncles glabrous or pubescent (finement). Peduncles of order 1 6–8 mm. Female flowers 4–5 -merous.

Fruits.— Fruit ovoid to spherical, 6.5 mm in diam., 8 mm.

Distribution, ecology.— South America, Venezuela (Amazonas: Cerro de la Neblina, Rio Yatua), 1500–1700 m.
