Habit, vegetative morphology.— Shrub, evergreen, 1–2 m tall. Current year's branchlets glabrous (éventuellement poils très courts). Branchlets older than one year rough, greyish, glabrous. Lenticels on current year's branchlets absent or hardly visible. Internodes 0.1–0.6 cm. Stipules caducous, linear-triangular, 0.5 mm. Petiole glabrous, rough or grooved surface, 5–8 mm. Lamina elliptic or obovate, lanceolate (1:3) (spatulé), 2.5–4.5 X, 0.5–1.2 cm, coriaceous, glabrous abaxially. Base cuneate. Apex rounded to obtuse, mucronate. Apex emarginate or rounded. Margin revolute, entire. Midbrid adaxially impressed, pubescent on proximal half (poils très courts, visibles à la loupe binoculaire). Midbrid abaxially raised, glabrous. Secondary veins abaxially obscure, 5–6 pairs. Tertiary veins abaxially obscure. Ponctuation abaxiallly present.

Inflorescences.— Thyrse, proliferating.

Male flowers.— Thyrses axes solitary and axillary. Thyrses axes 0.5–3 cm. Cymes of order 1–2. Peduncles pubescent. Peduncles of order 1 3–6 mm. Pherophylls of order 1 at 3–5 tenth from the base. Peduncles of order 2 1.5–2 mm. Pherophylls of order 2 at 0–1 tenth from the base. Bracts linear-triangular, glabrous, 0.5 mm, margin entire. Pherophylls of order 1 opposite or subopposite, linear-triangular, glabrous, 0.2–0.3 mm, margin entire. Male flowers 4 -merous, white. Calyx glabrous, 1–1.5 mm in diam., margin entire. Corolla 1–1.5 mm, petals connate on, petals 10–15 % of their length. Apex margin entire. Rudimentary ovary pyramidal, glabrous.

Female flowers.— Thyrses axes solitary and axillary. Thyrses axes 2–6 cm. Cymes of order 1 (à 2 selon Steyermark 1988). Peduncles pubescent. Peduncles of order 1 4–4.5 mm (10–12 sur des spécimens avec avec fruits). Pherophylls of order 1 at 0–3 tenth of the base. Bracts linear-triangulate, glabrous, 1 mm, margin entire. Pherophylls of order 1 opposite, linear-triangulate, glabrous, 0.3–0.4 mm, margin entire. Female flowers 4 -merous, white. Calyx glabrous, margin entire, 2–2.5 mm in diam. Corolla 2–2.5 mm, petals free or connate on, petals 5–10 % of their length. Apex margin entire (possibly beaded). Staminodes sagittate, glabrous. Ovary flattened, glabrous, stigma capitate, stigma glabrous.

Fruits.— Fruit green, spherical, 5–6 mm in diam. (immature), 5–6 mm (immature).

Distribution, ecology.— South America, Venezuela (Amazonas: Cerro Marahuaca), 1200–1300 m, Submontane forests bordering streams, riverbank.

Flowering.— February or October.
