Ilex brevipedicellata Steyerm.

Habit, vegetative morphology.— Tree, evergreen, 15 m tall. Current year's branchlets glabrous. Branchlets older than one year glabrous. Petiole glabrous, 7–8 mm. Lamina elliptic to obovate, oblong (1:2), 4–7 X, 2.5–3.5 cm, membranous to papyraceous, glabrous abaxially. Base acute. Apex rounded. Apex emarginate or rounded. Margin revolute, entire. Midbrid adaxially impressed, glabrous. Midbrid abaxially raised, glabrous. Secondary veins abaxially obscure, 5–6 pairs. Tertiary veins abaxially obscure. Ponctuation abaxiallly present.

Inflorescences.— Solitary dichasium.

Female flowers.— Cymes of order 1. Peduncles glabrous. Peduncles of order 1 1–1.5 mm. Calyx pubescent, margin ciliate or dentate.

Distribution, ecology.— South America, Venezuela (Amazonas: Cerro Marahuaka), 1140 m, versant forestier le long de la branche Est du Caño Negro.
