Ilex cardonae in litt. Steyerm.

Habit, vegetative morphology.— Tree, evergreen. Current year's branchlets glabrous. Branchlets older than one year glabrous. Petiole glabrous, 6–8 mm. Lamina elliptic, oblong (1:2), 11–13 X, 3.5–4.5 cm, membranous to papyraceous, glabrous abaxially. Base acute. Apex acute. Apex rounded. Margin crenate, teeth inconspicuous. Midbrid adaxially impressed. Midbrid abaxially raised. Secondary veins 7–8 pairs. Tertiary veins abaxially evident. Ponctuation abaxiallly absent.

Inflorescences.— Thyrse, non proliferating.

Male flowers.— Cymes of order 2–3. Peduncles pubescent. Peduncles of order 1 3–4 mm. Pherophylls of order 1 at 5–6 tenth from the base. Peduncles of order 2 1–2 mm. Male flowers 4 -merous. Calyx pubescent.
