Habit, vegetative morphology.— Tree or shrub, evergreen, 2–18 m tall. Current year's branchlets glabrous. Branchlets older than one year rough, greyish, glabrous. Lenticels on current year's branchlets absent or hardly visible. Internodes 0.4–1 cm. Stipules caducous, linear-triangular, 0.5–0.7 mm. Petiole glabrous, rough or grooved surface, 5–10(–14) mm. Lamina elliptic or obovate, oblong (1:2), 2.8–7.2(–8.3) X, 0.9–3.9 cm, coriaceous, glabrous abaxially. Base cuneate or acute or obtuse. Apex rounded or obtuse, mucronate. Apex retuse or acuminate. Acumen 0.03–0.2 cm. Margin revolute, entire. Midbrid adaxially impressed or flat, glabrous. Midbrid abaxially raised, glabrous. Secondary veins abaxially evident, 4–6 pairs. Tertiary veins abaxially obscure. Ponctuation abaxiallly absent (présente selon Edwin).

Inflorescences.— Thyrse, proliferating.

Female flowers.— Thyrses axes solitary and axillary. Cymes of order 1(–2). Peduncles glabrous. Peduncles of order 1 (4–)6–9(–11) mm. Female flowers 5 -merous. Calyx glabrous, margin entire, 3–3.5 mm in diam.

Fruits.— Fruit red (atroroseo-brunneis), spherical, 7 mm in diam. (selon Edwin), 8–11 mm (selon Edwin).

Distribution, ecology.— South America, Venezuela (Bolívar: Auyán-tepuí, Cerro Venamo, Gran Sabana, Macizo del Chimantá), 1100–2300 m, Shrublands, gallery forests, swampy depression of meadows, on sandstone.
