Habit, vegetative morphology.— Evergreen. Current year's branchlets pubescent (poils très courts, visibles à la loupe). Branchlets older than one year smooth or furrowed, reddish, glabrous. Lenticels on current year's branchlets present. Internodes 0.7–2.5 cm. Stipules caducous (selon Loesener 1901), linear-triangular (selon Loesener 1901), 0.5 mm (selon Loesener 1901). Petiole glabrous, rough or grooved surface, 8–20 mm. Lamina elliptic, oblong (1:2), 7–12 X, 2.3–4.5 cm, papyraceous, glabrous abaxially. Base attenuate or acute. Apex rounded or obtuse or acute, not mucronate. Apex emarginate or rounded or acuminate. Acumen 0.2–0.6 cm. Margin revolute, entire. Midbrid adaxially impressed, glabrous or pubescent on proximal half (poils très très courts). Midbrid abaxially raised, glabrous. Secondary veins abaxially evident, 6–9 pairs. Tertiary veins abaxially obscure. Ponctuation abaxiallly present.

Inflorescences.— Thyrse, non proliferating.

Male flowers.— Thyrses axes solitary and axillary. Thyrses axes 0.1–0.2 cm. Cymes of order 2–3. Peduncles pubescent (poils très très courts). Peduncles of order 1 2.5–4.5 mm. Pherophylls of order 1 at 5 tenth from the base. Peduncles of order 2 1–2.5 mm. Pherophylls of order 2 at 0–1 tenth from the base. Bracts linear-triangular, pubescent (poils très très courts), 1 mm, margin entire. Pherophylls of order 1 opposite, linear-triangular, pubescent (poils très très courts), 0.5–0.7 mm, margin entire. Male flowers 4 -merous, white (selon Loesener 1901). Calyx glabrous, 1.5–2 mm in diam., margin entire. Corolla 2–2.5 mm, petals free or connate on, petals 5–10 % of their length. Apex margin entire. Stamens at the anthesis shorter than corolla. Rudimentary ovary pyramidal, glabrous.

Female flowers.— Thyrses axes solitary and axillary. Thyrses axes 0.3–1.5 cm. Cymes of order 1–2. Peduncles pubescent (poils courts). Peduncles of order 1 4–8 mm. Pherophylls of order 1 at 5 tenth of the base. Peduncles of order 2 2–3 mm. Pherophylls of order 2 at 0–1 tenth of the base. Bracts linear-triangulate, pubescent, 0.5 mm, margin entire. Pherophylls of order 1 subopposite, linear-triangulate, pubescent, 0.5 mm, margin ciliate. Female flowers 4 -merous. Calyx pubescent, margin ciliate or dentate, 1.5–2 mm in diam. Corolla 2–2.5 mm, petals free or connate on, petals 5–10 % of their length. Apex margin entire (possibly beaded). Staminodes sagittate, glabrous. Ovary spherical, glabrous, stigma capitate, stigma glabrous.

Distribution, ecology.— South America, Brazil (Mato Grosso).

Flowering.— December (selon Loesener 1901).
