Ilex culmenicola in litt. Steyerm.

Habit, vegetative morphology.— Shrub, evergreen, 1 m tall. Current year's branchlets glabrous. Branchlets older than one year rough, glabrous. Petiole glabrous, rough or grooved surface, 4–5 mm. Lamina elliptic, oblong (1:2), 3–4.5 X, 1.5–2.5 cm, coriaceous, glabrous abaxially. Base acute. Apex obtuse, mucronate. Margin revolute, entire. Secondary veins 5 pairs. Ponctuation abaxiallly absent.

Inflorescences.— Solitary dichasium.

Female flowers.— Cymes of order 1. Peduncles glabrous. Peduncles of order 1 12 mm. Female flowers 5 -merous. Calyx glabrous, margin ciliate or dentate, 5 mm in diam.

Fruits.— Fruit spherical, 8 mm in diam., 8 mm.

Distribution, ecology.— South America, Venezuela (Amazonas, Mount Duida), 1830–2000 m.
