Ilex gleasoniana in litt. Steyerm.

Habit, vegetative morphology.— Shrub, evergreen. Current year's branchlets pubescent (finement). Branchlets older than one year pubescent, sparse trichomes (fins). Petiole glabrous, rough or grooved surface, 3–5 mm. Lamina obovate, oblong (1:2), 2–3.2 X, 0.8–1.3 cm, glabrous abaxially. Base acute. Apex rounded, mucronate. Margin revolute (peu marquée), entire. Midbrid adaxially impressed. Midbrid abaxially raised. Secondary veins 5 pairs. Ponctuation abaxiallly present (peu marquée).

Inflorescences.— Solitary dichasium.

Male flowers.— Cymes of order 1 (?). Peduncles pubescent (finement). Peduncles of order 1 2.5–5 mm. Male flowers 5 -merous. Calyx 1.5 mm in diam. Corolla 2.5 mm. Stamens at the anthesis equal to corolla. Rudimentary ovary glabrous.

Distribution, ecology.— South America, Venezuela (Amazonas, Mont Duida), 2000 m, fourré, taillis.

Flowering.— November to December.
