Ilex lymanii in litt. Edwin

Habit, vegetative morphology.— Shrub, evergreen, 4 m tall. Current year's branchlets pubescent. Branchlets older than one year reddish, pubescent, sparse trichomes. Petiole glabrous (quelques rares poils?), 8–11 mm. Lamina obovate, oblong (1:2), 5.1–5.6 X, 2.1–3.5 cm, coriaceous, glabrous abaxially. Base cuneate to acute. Apex rounded. Apex retuse or acuminate. Acumen 0.1 cm. Margin revolute, entire. Ponctuation abaxiallly present.

Inflorescences.— Thyrse, proliferating.

Female flowers.— Cymes of order 1. Peduncles pubescent. Peduncles of order 1 5–7 mm. Female flowers 5–6 -merous. Calyx pubescent, margin ciliate or dentate, 2.5–3 mm in diam.

Fruits.— Fruit spherical, 6.5 mm in diam., 8.5 mm.

Distribution, ecology.— South America, Venezuela (Amazonas, Cerro Guanay), 1800 m.
