Ilex minimifolia Loes.

Habit, vegetative morphology.— Tree or shrub (petit), evergreen, 2–3 m tall. Current year's branchlets pubescent or hirsute. Branchlets older than one year rough (écorce à l'aspect pustuleux), greyish or brownish or reddish (jaunâtres et recouverts de mousses et de lichens lui donnant un aspect noirâtre), glabrous. Lenticels on current year's branchlets absent or hardly visible. Internodes 0.01–0.1 cm. Stipules persistent, deltoid or linear-triangular, 0.5 mm. Petiole pubescent, rough or grooved surface, 1–2 mm. Lamina elliptic, orbiculate (1:1) to oblong (1:2), 0.4–0.7 X, 0.2–0.5 cm, coriaceous, glabrous abaxially. Base rounded. Apex obtuse, mucronate. Apex rounded. Margin plane (mais à bords épaissis), dentate, teeth inconspicuous. Teeth 3–4 ca., on the distal half of the margin. Midbrid adaxially impressed or flat, pubescent on proximal half. Midbrid abaxially raised, glabrous. Secondary veins abaxially obscure, 2–3 pairs. Tertiary veins abaxially obscure. Ponctuation abaxiallly present.

Inflorescences.— Solitary dichasium.

Male flowers.— Cymes of order 1. Peduncles pubescent. Peduncles of order 1 2.5–3 mm. Pherophylls of order 1 at 6–7 tenth from the base. Pherophylls of order 1 opposite (probablement), deltoid, glabrous, 0.5 mm, margin entire (à part quelques rares poils). Male flowers 4 -merous, white. Calyx glabrous, 2–2.5 mm in diam., margin entire (mais parfois quelques poils). Corolla 2 mm, petals connate on, petals 15–20 % of their length. Apex margin entire. Stamens at the anthesis shorter than corolla. Rudimentary ovary subglobulous or flattened, glabrous.

Distribution, ecology.— South America, Bolivia (Quitar).
