Habit, vegetative morphology.— Current year's branchlets pubescent. Branchlets older than one year smooth or furrowed, greyish or reddish, glabrous. Lenticels on current year's branchlets absent or hardly visible. Internodes 0.1–0.5 cm. Stipules caducous, deltoid, 0.3–1 mm. Petiole pubescent, rough or grooved surface, 2–2.5 mm. Lamina elliptic or obovate, orbiculate (1:1) or oblong (1:2), 1–1.8 X, 0.8–1.3 cm, coriaceous. Base acute or obtuse. Apex rounded or obtuse, not mucronate. Apex rounded. Margin revolute, crenate or dentate, teeth conspicuous. Teeth 5–6 ca., over the entire length of the margin (mais plus denses dans la moitié distale). Midbrid adaxially impressed or flat, pubescent. Midbrid abaxially raised, glabrous. Secondary veins abaxially obscure, 3–5 pairs. Tertiary veins abaxially obscure. Ponctuation abaxiallly present.

Inflorescences.— Thyrse, proliferating.

Male flowers.— Thyrses axes solitary and axillary. Thyrses axes 0.2–0.5 cm. Cymes of order 1–2. Peduncles glabrous or pubescent. Peduncles of order 1 3–6 mm. Pherophylls of order 1 at 3–6 tenth from the base. Peduncles of order 2 2–3 mm. Pherophylls of order 2 at 0–1 tenth from the base. Pherophylls of order 1 opposite, linear-triangular, glabrous, 0.3–0.5 mm, margin entire. Male flowers 4 -merous. Calyx glabrous, 1.5–2 mm in diam., margin ciliate or dentate. Corolla 1.5–2 mm, petals connate on, petals 10–20 % of their length. Apex margin entire. Rudimentary ovary subglobulous or flattened, glabrous.

Female flowers.— Thyrses axes solitary and axillary or terminal. Thyrses axes 0.3–0.6 cm. Cymes of order 1. Peduncles pubescent. Peduncles of order 1 2–3 mm. Pherophylls of order 1 at 3–6 tenth of the base. Pherophylls of order 1 opposite, linear-triangulate, pubescent, 0.3–0.5 mm, margin entire. Female flowers 4 -merous (?). Calyx pubescent (poils rares), margin ciliate or dentate, 2–3 mm in diam.

Fruits.— Fruit spherical, 2–3 mm in diam., 2–3 mm.

Distribution, ecology.— South America, Brazil (Sierra de Piedade).
