Habit, vegetative morphology.— Evergreen. Current year's branchlets pubescent. Branchlets older than one year smooth or furrowed, greyish, glabrous or pubescent, dense short trichomes (poils très courts). Lenticels on current year's branchlets present. Internodes 0–0.5 cm. Stipules caducous, linear-triangular, 0.5 mm. Petiole pubescent, rough or grooved surface, 3–6 mm. Lamina elliptic, orbiculate (1:1) to oblong (1:2), 2.5–5 X, 1.8–2.5 cm, coriaceous, glabrous abaxially. Base obtuse to rounded. Apex rounded to obtuse, mucronate. Apex emarginate (peu marqué) or rounded. Margin plane, dentate, teeth inconspicuous. Teeth 6–12 ca., over the entire length of the margin. Midbrid adaxially flat, glabrous or pubescent on proximal half (jeunes feuilles). Midbrid abaxially raised, glabrous or pubescent on proximal half (jeunes feuilles). Secondary veins abaxially obscure, 4–5 pairs. Tertiary veins abaxially obscure. Ponctuation abaxiallly present.

Inflorescences.— Thyrse, proliferating.

Male flowers.— Cymes of order 1–2. Peduncles pubescent. Peduncles of order 1 6–12 mm. Pherophylls of order 1 at 0–6 tenth from the base. Peduncles of order 2 1.5–2.5 mm. Pherophylls of order 2 at 0–1 tenth from the base. Bracts linear-triangular, pubescent, 1.5–2.5 mm, margin entire. Pherophylls of order 1 opposite or subopposite, linear-triangular, pubescent, 1.5 mm, margin entire. Male flowers 5–6 -merous, white. Calyx pubescent, 5–6 mm in diam., margin entire. Corolla 5–6 mm, petals connate on, petals 20–30 % of their length. Apex margin entire. Stamens at the anthesis shorter than corolla. Rudimentary ovary pyramidal, glabrous.

Distribution, ecology.— South America, Venezuela.
