Habit, vegetative morphology.— Tree, evergreen, 7 m tall. Current year's branchlets pubescent. Branchlets older than one year greyish, glabrous. Petiole glabrous, 6–12 mm. Lamina oblong (1:2), 9–9.5 X, 5.3–6.1 cm, coriaceous, glabrous abaxially. Base cuneate to acute. Apex obtuse to acute. Apex retuse or rounded or acuminate. Margin revolute, entire. Midbrid adaxially impressed. Midbrid abaxially raised. Secondary veins 7–10 pairs. Ponctuation abaxiallly present.

Inflorescences.— Thyrse, non proliferating.

Male flowers.— Cymes of order 2–4. Peduncles pubescent. Peduncles of order 1 2–11 mm. Pherophylls of order 1 at 5–7 tenth from the base. Peduncles of order 2 2–5 mm. Male flowers 4–5 -merous, white. Calyx pubescent, margin ciliate or dentate.

Female flowers.— Cymes of order 1. Peduncles pubescent. Peduncles of order 1 2 mm. Female flowers 4 -merous. Calyx pubescent.

Fruits.— Fruit ovoid, 4 mm in diam., 5 mm.

Distribution, ecology.— South America, British Guyana (Kaieteur Plateau), 400–500 m, Forest, frequent tree in marsh forest margin.
