Habit, vegetative morphology.— Shrub, evergreen, 2 m tall. Current year's branchlets pubescent (fins poils courts). Branchlets older than one year smooth or furrowed, reddish, pubescent (? ils sont noirs et très fins, peut-être lichen ou mousse), dense short trichomes. Lenticels on current year's branchlets absent or hardly visible. Internodes 0.3–1 cm. Stipules persistent, 0.4–0.5 mm. Petiole pubescent (sur les rameaux de l'année précédente, cf. remarque sous n°12), rough or grooved surface, 4–5 mm. Lamina elliptic to obovate, oblong (1:2), 2.5–5.5 X, 1.5–2.2 cm, coriaceous, glabrous abaxially. Base cuneate to acute. Apex rounded to obtuse, mucronate. Apex rounded or acuminate. Acumen 0.5 cm. Margin revolute, entire. Midbrid adaxially impressed, glabrous. Midbrid abaxially raised, glabrous. Secondary veins abaxially evident, 5–6 pairs. Tertiary veins abaxially obscure. Ponctuation abaxiallly absent.

Inflorescences.— Thyrse, proliferating.

Female flowers.— Thyrses axes solitary and axillary. Cymes of order 1–2. Peduncles pubescent. Peduncles of order 1 5–6 mm. Pherophylls of order 1 at 5–6 tenth of the base. Peduncles of order 2 2–3 mm. Pherophylls of order 2 at 0–1 tenth of the base. Pherophylls of order 1 opposite, linear-triangulate, glabrous, 0.5 mm, margin entire. Female flowers 5 -merous. Calyx glabrous (subglabris ?), margin entire, 2.5 mm in diam. Stigma glabrous.

Fruits.— Fruit of another color than red, black or green (brunâtre lorsque sec), spherical, 6 mm in diam., 5 mm.

Distribution, ecology.— South America, Venezuela (Bolívar: Aparamán-tepui, Río Uarama in northeastern Gran Sabana), 1200–2100 m, Rocky exposures in savannas.

Flowering.— April (fruits).
