Loan card is given at the desk in the reading room. Cost for user card: CHF 10.-

Readers living in Switzerland

  Necessary pieces
Swiss Citizens valid identification
(national identity card, passport, driving license)
Foreign residents work permit or other legitimate identity card
Children (from the age of 15 upwards) same documentation
plus the signature of their legal representative on the registration form

Readers not living in Switzerland

  Necessary pieces
Teachers and collaborators of the University of Geneva national identity card
plus a card of legitimization from their institution
Students of the University of Geneva automatically registered (student card)
Students of the associated institutions identity card
plus stamped postal receipt of the University fees for the current semester
People registered in the libraries of Ambilly, Bellegarde-sur-Valserine, Annemasse, Communauté de Communes des Collines du Léman (Armoy, Cervens, Orcier et Perrignier), Divonne-les-Bains, Evian, Gex, Lucinges, Saint-Cergues, Saint-Genis-Pouilly, Saint-Julien, Thonon-les-Bains, Veigy-Foncenex ou Ville-la-Grand identity card
plus a valid attestation from their respective libraries
People registered in a library of the network BibliOpass identity card
plus a library card
Other people identity card
plus a cautionary deposit (CHF 200.-)

Conditions of use

Borrowing entitlements 20 volumes, including those borrowed from the entire "Réseau des bibliothèques Genevoises" (RBG)
Loan period 4 weeks
Renewals 3 extensions of 4 weeks (subject to approval). Extensions by telephone are possible (++ 41 22 418 52 00) during opening hours, or on internet
Request A book already borrowed can be requested at the desk in the reading room or by internet. The patron receives a note when the book is available
Loan return of books borrowed from outside Geneva Our library accepts returns of books borrowed in the libraries of the Library Network of Western Switzerland (RERO) for cantons of Fribourg, Neuchâtel/Jura, Valais and Vaud
Fines CHF 0.50 per day and per document for each day overdue
Administrative charges for replacement card CHF 10.-

Reproduction

A book scanner and a microfiches scanner are at the disposal of our patrons. Copies are not permitted without authorization of the library staff in the reading room.

It is forbidden to scan rare materials or items published before 1900 and any materials in special condition (size, paper, bound, etc.).
