This concerns a Systematics Garden, presented in manner that follows plant evolution.

The collection contains an assortment of species of small plants selected from genera that are often woody.

The order of planting, along the railway line leading from the Avenue de la Paix up to the wall of Tufa, corresponds to steps in the evolution of vascular plants, as seen in our latest publications in this field (see SPICHIGER et al., (1997), Saussurea 28: 1-46).
