Notice

The great popularity of music for lamellophones, in Africa and elsewhere, owes a great deal to the record industry. Many recordings of music for mbira from Zimbabwe and Mozambique have been published and widely distributed since the 1960s, especially in the collection Sounds of Africa published by the International Library of African Music, specialised in the study of lamellophones.
