Alfred Bertrand collection (1856-1924)

The fortune of this Genevan allowed him to devote his life to his passion for travel, including two world tours between 1878 and 1907, mainly in Asia and British colonial lands. We owe him a remarkable collection of 1700 photographs produced by professional workshops then in full expansion at the turn of the 19th century. Views of landscapes, monuments and curiosities predominate in this collection where everything contributes to offering an ideal vision of the place.
