Eugene Pittard collection (1867-1962)

Anthropologist, director of the Museum of Ethnography in Geneva from 1935 to 1952, his scientific documentation is the basis of the photographic collection of the MEG with the important collection made in the Balkans. Between 1899 and 1910, he produced hundreds of anthropometric portraits illustrating the diversity of human types in Romania. The images taken in Albania in 1921 are part of a more personal approach in which ethnographic interest and historical reporting are intertwined.
