Hirohito, 124th Emperor of Japan

29 April 1901 - 7 January 1989

Emperor Hirohito, circa 1940

It seems quite odd that humble hydroids might catch the attention of a being regarded as divine (well, at least until the end of World War II). Hirohito published a series of works on hydrozoan taxonomy (also on other marine animals). Especially his book of 1988 is used and cited rather frequently.
