Naomi Adeline Helen Millard (née Bokenham)

16.07.1914-12.06.1997, South Africa

Naomi Millard studied almost exclusively the hydroids of South Africa, but her work had a decisive and lasting impact on hydrozoan systematics. It was above all her monograph of the hydroids of southern Africa (1) whose exceptional quality set new standards. The volume is still one of the best source for beginners to get acquainted with the majority of the hydroid based genera.
