Main  features  of  the  family : 

These  gastropods  have  a  conical  shell  bearing  an  apical  opening  through  which  exhalant  
water  is  passed.  Keyhole  limpets  are  primitive,  egg-laying  herbivores  that  lack  an  operculum. 
11 species of keyhole limpets have been recorded from the Galápagos Islands.
