Notes : Cette édition monumentale Platon qui fit autorité pendant des siècles. La version latine a été demandée à Jean de Serres, pendant qu'Estienne établissait le texte grec. Estienne qui n'appréciait que modérément la version trop littéraire de Jean de Serres entra en conflit avec le traducteur. En outre, il faut dire que ce dernier travaillait sur une version plus ancienne, sans connaître les variantes proposées par Estienne. Le conflit se termina par une transation : Jean de Serres maintint sa version, Henri Estienne la critiquait éventuellement dans la marge extérieure et le traducteur pouvait se défendre dans l'autre marge.
