Biology : Sturdy erect, much-branched succulent shrub to 2,5 m tall; branches 4-5(-6)-angled, to 2-3 cm thick, ± constricted at intervals of 10-20 cm; angles straight to sinuatly toothed, with teeth 1-2 cm apart; spiny.
Ecology : Stony soil, usually on rocky slopes, with open deciduous bushland; 600? or 900-1760 m alt.
  Near E. scarlatina.
