Biology : Perennial, leafless, spiny succulent; rootstock a tuber, sometimes ± 7-8 cm Ø; stems numerous, erect, 5-7,5 cm tall, slender, 0,45-0,55 cm Ø, 3-angled, branched at or near the base; fruits and seeds unknown.
Ecology : Shrub-grown thickets and pasture above the torrent of river; not uncommon.
  Related to E. schmitzii.
