Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Annual or short-lived perennial with branching erect stems to 35 cm tall; the whole plant often tinged red; leaves lanceolate 6,5-15(-18)x2-5(-6) mm, base obliquely rounded to subcordate; not spiny.
Ecology : Wooded grassland; disturbed areas, often on rocky slopes in areas of open deciduous woodland; dunes and fixed sands; screes; humid places; laterite flags; Brachystegia woodland; 275-2000 m alt.
  Not in Somalia (= E. arabica ).
