Biology : Tufted succulent perennial with a thick tuberous root; branches spreading, sparsely rebranching, 10-30 cm long, to 2 cm Ø, 5-angled; angles with prominent tubercle-teeth 1-1,5 cm apart; spiny.
Ecology : Rocky lava slopes; 800-1200 m alt.
  Of fairly easy culture.
  Near E. uhligiana, E. pervittata.
