Biology : Stems long, slender, twining, to 3 m long, sparingly branched, less often suberect below and rather freely branching from a woody base, twining only above; monoecious.
Ecology : Along rivers; termite mounds; secondary scrub in Brachystegia woodland; spreading into disturbed places; rocky outcrops; mopane woodland; deciduous woodland on Kalahari sand; plateau woodland and lakeshore thicket; sea-level to 1350 m alt.
