Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Perennial, monoecious, usually sparingly branched herb, erect at first, or less often procumbent, later scandent or twining, to 3 m tall, though more commonly ± 60 cm, with many stems arising from a single root.
Ecology : Forest and secondary associations; often on coral, limestone or rock outcrops; spreading into disturbed places; Newtonia evergreen forest; riparian forest and thickets; 0-250(-900) m alt.
