Biology : Monoecious or sometimes dioecious spreading or straggling tree, often lax-branched from the base, to 14 m tall with trunk to 60 cm Ø, 180 cm in girth.
Ecology : Deciduous woodland; riverine fringing vegetation; sand banks of rivers and seasonal watercourses; on floodplain alluvium forming thickets; as understorey to larger trees; seasonal pan margins; island vegetation in swamps (Okawango); 110-1070 m alt.
