Biology : Woody undershrub with whip-like branches arising from a rhizome; branches somewhat flattened, obtusely angular; very similar to P. maderaspatanus but habit ceaspitose etc. [Fl. Zambes. 9(4): 60, 1996].
Ecology : Usually on black basaltic and sandy clay soils of river valleys, on river banks; dry river beds; amongst rocks; also on limestone pavement; serpentine hills; open Brachystegia woodland; 15-930 m alt.
