Biology : Straggling, somewhat diffusely branched evergreen dioecious creeper, shrub or tree to 8 m tall; branches differentiated into horizontal-spreading leafless branches and erect leafy shoots; branches hollow; fruits in lax pendulous spikes or racemes.
Ecology : Edges of swamp, lakeside and riverine forest and associated bushland; often forming thickets in disturbed unburned places; 650-1500 m alt.
