Biology : Much-branched tree 7-30 m; trunk 1,8 m in girth, 80 cm Ø, straight with conspicuous, arching stiltroots (except in savanna regions); trunk ± fluted, warty, with longitudinal cracks; branches spreading, erect at the apex.
Ecology : Wet places in rain-forest (common along river banks); sometimes in pure stands; bushland on steep slopes; mixed evergreen forest (common); 1-1060 m alt.

  Not in the Flora Zambesiaca area (= U. lissopyrena )
