Trop. Afr.
Biology : Tree 10-20 m, with straight bole, cylindric, 1 m in girth, branching to form a dense widely-spreading crown; commonly without buttresses and stiltroots (very rarely aerial roots); sometimes male and female flowers on the same tree.
Ecology : Wooded savanna; sometimes on dry ground: lateritic hardpan or fine gravel; gregarious in moist places in long grass savanna, especially in fringing forest; secondary forest; 520m alt. (Cameroon).
