Biology : Annual or perhaps occasionally perennial herb; stems erect, occasionally creeping below, simple or irregularly branched, often packed together and denuded of leaves below, 5-40 cm long. Very variable.
Ecology : Amphibious or aquatic; swamps, spray zone of waterfalls, mud or sand on lake and stream shores; drying-up pans, running water, damp grasslands, etc.; 1000-2000 m alt. Namibia, S. Africa (Natal), Botswana; Madagascar; Italy (not native).

Biol./Eco : biology: annual (occ. perennial)-Herb, Hydrophyte- Ht 0.05 - 0.12 m. Alt: ? - 1500 m. in states: BOT, GA, LP, MP
