Trop. Afr.
Biology : Erect or ascending herb, 1-50 cm tall or long, the short specimens erect; stems thickish, ± fleshy, 4-angled, sparsely branched, often rooting at basal nodes.
Ecology : Seasonally flooded freshwater swamps, swamps near permanent lakes and streams with grass, Cyperaceae, Aechynomene, Ipomoea aquatica, etc.; forest on loam or coral, drainage ditches; persisting as a weed in rice-fields; 0-150 m alt.
