Biology : Herb 10-35 cm tall; corm discoid, to 2,5 cm Ø, at or just below ground level; leaf blade ovate, heart-shaped, (including lobes), 9-24x6-17 cm, lobes ca 3,5 cm long; petiole 6-22 cm long; inflorescence 10-35 cm long, incl. scape, appearing before leaves; raceme 3-17-flowered, 3-13 cm long, ebracteate (rarely with 1-2 filiform bracteoles); inflorescence nodes 1-flowered; tepals blue, 1,2-2,1x0,2-0,6 cm; capsule 1-2-lobed, lobes ovoid, to 0,7x0,5 cm.
Ecology : Shady places in woodland or on river banks; 780-1530 m alt.
