Biology : Procumbent perennial herb; stems to 50 cm long, from a woody rootstock.
Ecology : Dry eroded hillsides and rocky outcrops, roadsides, abandoned cultivations; grassy areas bordering seasonal swamps or vleis; 1325(and less?)-2700 m alt. Botswana, S. Africa, Namibia. – Extremely disjunct distribution (cf. H. modesta).
