Biology : Tree 6-10 m, monoecious, cauliflorous, much-branched.

Ecology : Evergreen forest with Pterocarpus mildbraedii, Ouratea sacleuxii, Chassalia zimmermannii, Tricalysia, Saintpaulia sp. etc.; 350 m alt. Low altitude populations of C. usambarensis represent this species.
  Near C. stelechantha and C. porphyrantha.
  Only known from Kwamgumi Forest Reserve, E. Usambaras; endangered.
