Biology : Deciduous tree 30-65 m; bole 2 m ?and 7 m in girth, with large, winged buttresses to 6-8 m high; bole straight or twisted, groved, clear to 20-25 m hight; flowering when leafless.
Ecology : Lowland half-deciduous forest; abandoned cultivated ground in transition zone between rain- and half-deciduous forest; old secondary forests. ? Growth rapid. In light. Rare in the wettest areas. One of the most exploited species for timber.
