Biology : Suffrutescent shrub, 20-50(-75) cm tall, with numerous simple or sparingly branched shoots from a woody rhizome.

Ecology : Seasonally wet grassland; “dambos”; savanna; stony places; humus-rich or clayey soils; open forest; humid or swampy areas; red clay bank among grass; amidst dense tussocks of Pennisetum in open grassland; roadside, red soil; 400-2100 m alt.
