Ecology : Wooded grassland, especially along edges of riverine forest or on rocky outcrops (volcanic, limestone, granitic); shady forest; open deciduous woodland; wooded ravines; riverine thickets; sometimes on sand.
  Variable in size and indumentum of leaves.
  100-1900 m alt. Disjunction Ethiopia-Tanzania.
