  Widely and thinly scattered in Africa. Widely distributed in Arabia (Willdenowia 34: 178, 2004), India, Sri Lanka, Japan, China, SE Asia, Malesia, Australia (Queensland), Pacific Islands to Oahu (Hawai Isl.) – Guinea Bissau?; not in Zaire (= L. aestuans).
