Biology : Perennial herb, monoecious, with creeping rooting rhizomes and erect fleshy stems 40-75 cm tall, 0,5-1 cm Ø at base, usually little branched, pilose to hispid; leaves restricted to the upper half of the stem, alternate; inflorescences unisexual, sessile.
Ecology : Rain-forest, often along streams; riverine forest; often among rocks; abundant by spots; near water falls; in forest floor shade.
  800-1950 m alt.
  São Tomé, Bioko/Fernando Poo.
