Ecology : Forest; forest gallery; marshy areas; papyrus swamps; wet grassland with scattered trees; sometimes on old termite mounds; montane rain-forest.
  200-2500 m alt.Resembling C. petiolata but leaves different; also similar to C. polyantha and to C. sciaphila (a hairy plant from low altitude).
