Biology : Perennial herb to 15(-20) cm tall, with slender to stout, rather compact rhizome, apex ascending or not; leaves peltate; blade with variation in presence of bullae and in form of purplish brown colour patterns; flowers showy.

Ecology : Forest, in deep shade and moist places; forested slopes, on (steep) slopes or road banks, mossy wet rocks and forest floor; rarely on steep rock faces; locally common; 250-900 m alt. Not in Congo. (see more in the book)
