Biology : Deciduous tree to 30 m tall, with large and high buttresses; crown wide-spreading to dome like; lower branches drooping, sometimes touching the ground; bark shallowly fissured, thin-scaly, peeling off irregularly;
Ecology : Native in SE Asia, Malesia, Indonesia, Pacific Isl.; evergreeen forests in lowlands up to 600 m alt.
  Cultivated in e.g. Sierra Leone, Zaire, Tanzania, Mozambique as a shade tree.
