Biology : Stems like C. demersum but more delicate; leaves forked 3-4 'times, lighter green; fruit flattened with both apical and basal 'spines, surface warty or spiny, long-spinose wing.
Ecology : Slow-flowing or stagnant, shallow water, incl. seasonal highly alkaline pools; not in brackish estuaries. Libya?; Egypt; S. Africa; W Russia, Italy; India, E China, Pacific Islands; E USA to N S. America.
