Ecology and distribution
Trop. Afr.
Biology : Tree to 25 m, deciduous, with straight cylindrical bole to 70 cm ?and 2(-3) m in girth, slightly buttressed or fluted; crown open, spreading; bark deeply fissured, scaly and very thick when old.
Ecology : Closed high-forest, or more often semi-deciduous forest. Can be confused with Margaritaria discoidea (Euphorbiaceae; Ivory Coast). Wood resistent to termite attacks.
